Some things I recorded once.

You can listen to them if you want. They're all MP3s of varying degrees of quality, often inversely proportional to how much I'm embarrassed by them. I suppose, to a degree, this list is sorted in the order I would like someone to hear them (top to bottom). Kind of. Kind of not, too.

Fawn An acoustic Tom Waits cover. No singing!
Good quality. 1.8mb
Memphis, Tennessee That's right! A Chuck Berry cover. It's OK, I got someone else to sing on this.
Good quality. 3.7mb
Avery Island A cover version of Neutral Milk Hotel's Avery Island. It has a slight reggae feel.
Good quality. 2.4mb
Like A Hurricane A Neil Young cover with authentic 'bad' singing. Just NY himself. I wish. I apologise for the weird tempo fluctuations. It all went a bit pear-shaped like that.
!Actually, I've had to remove this as so many people were downloading it. Presumably because they thought it was the NY version. I wouldn't want to do that to the man.
Pretty good quality. 3.84mb
St. Valentine Short and sad with lots of doo's and dah's and ooo's. Features singing.
Reasonable quality. 2.36mb
Take A Deep Breath (re-mastered) Still the first tune recorded with my now not-so-new electric drums. Nice parts: guitar solo, organ solo, some verse bits. Possibly the most song-like of anything here. Instrumentation: drums, bass, guitars, keyboard, tabourine, bongos, vocals.
Good quality. 3.98mb
A Guitar Comes Out To Play Cheesy two-handed tapping tune from yours truly!
Good quality. 1.24mb
Wrapped Around Your Finger No, not a Police cover (lucky for you!). No. This is some cheesy shit. Cheesy basslines, cheesy melodies and hardly any singing! It's short! It's fun! Get it! It features all synthesised instruments!
Good quality. 2.56mb
Falling Down Now. It may well come as a surprise when I tell you that I'm not much of a singer. In fact, I've only been writing tunes with vocal parts for about six months and, even then, not many. Mainly cos' I'm a bad singer. Anyway. This is my first attempt which turned out 'OK' by careful usage of my 'blues voice'. Ahem. It's the longest song yet, which is why I've had to reduce quality. This may be a blessing in disguise. Check out those layered Keefa harmonies! Argh!
Reasonable quality. 3.62mb
Late Song This is one of many songs that come from an era when I seemed to spend much time thinking I could write for instruments I had no idea how to play. So, here we have piano, marimba and flute. Quite a nice tune; I remember being particularly proud of the little bit when it changes to the minor key. These MIDI-based tunes were all passed through Keefa's Special Low Pass Filter and, as such, sound much better, albeit slightly muddier. They have also been tweaked for optimum cheese.
Good quality. 1.9mb
The Bloggs' Piano Concerto Now then. Some background, I s'pose...

Well, for some time now I have been taking the cheapest option when it comes to birthday presents for people: homemade cards, homemade presents, and homemade songs. This is one such song (others include: Al's 21st Birthday Song, Blight's Iguana and Back-up songs, Russ' Birthday Song, etc.) Anyway. This is written for my sister: the Bloggs. Not the jolliest tune in the world, but I think I must've been trying to impress her with my piano-scoring skills. Hah! Anyway. It has two movements (well...two 2:00min parts that were written about three months apart). Notice the reintroduction of the Bloggs' theme in the second part in a stupid harmonic-minor mode. These things just happen of course.
Good quality. 3.36mb

Al's 21st Birthday Song Written, incredibly, for Al's 21st birthday. Yes, I am cheap. Some guitars, some twiddly playing, mostly improvised, MIDI backing, nice tapped melody at the end--where did that come from?!
Good quality. 3.61mb
Midnight Cowboy Short and sweet guitar cover of the theme from Midnight Cowboy composed by John Barry. Nice.
Reasonable quality. 1.55mb
Pseudosong The was actually the very first tune I ever recorded on my 4-track. It's also, I think, the only guitar-based tune I've ever written the melody and harmonies for in full, no improvisation. Quite a nice tune.
Beginner quality. 3.53mb
Suzi's Song Tune recorded many, many, many moons ago for Suz's birthday utilising cheapo tape-to-tape technique. You get two tape recorders and record you playing along to the backing track you're the other tape deck is playing. This features three guitars, which I assure you was pushing the technology to its absolute limit. Then they invented computers. Some nice improvisation in parts. Some awful timing in a couple of places. Ha!
Awful quality. 2.46mb
Rätsel I believe I originally whipped this up for the now defunct Groovy Compo (now deceased) about 300 million years ago. I don't think I even managed to get it completed in time. It features the highly-processed vocals of my sister! I just asked her to say, "Wie ist Ihre Telefonnummer", so there was no tune or anything. So, naturally, I have doubled the vocal 'melody' in places. The results are... exciting!
Good quality. 2.75mb
Mess #1 One of a number of overly-ambitious orchestral pieces written about four years ago. For more infos, see the entry for 06-Apr-2002.
Good quality. 3.34mb
De@7h One of the first things I recorded after that terrible day when I spent half my student grant on a Yamaha four-track. Obviously, I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Short.
Poor quality. 685kb

Obviously, there's a million more songs like these (although some even worse). Some have even got worse singing! Yes! Really! Some have got twiddly guitar parts from back when I could do stuff like that. But they're all mine (except the covers, which are someone else's).
